Dress Size

Kelly is quite a petite girl at approximately 5’3” and I believe from the ‘before’ shot that she was a UK dress size 12 to14 and probably weighed in excess of 10st. The dramatic difference in the ‘after’ shot suggests to me that she has lost at least 2 stone in weight which would bring her down to a UK dress size 8 to10 and approximately 8st (dropping at least a whopping 2 dress sizes in total).

Workout

The kind of workout that Kelly has been doing to achieve these dramatic results in a relatively short space of time would be largely cardiovascular, due to the fact that she is rehearsing for Chicago - a physically demanding dance show. The training she would have undergone would include dance rehearsals for anything up to two hours a day (which can burn up to 400 calories an hour) five times a week, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she had additional workouts containing both Pilates and Yoga.

Pilates focuses on improving core stability while elongated the muscles through the body, which would explain the difference in Kelly’s waist measurement from the ‘before’ to the ‘after’ shot (at least 4 inches). I believe this has been achieved through lots of sit-ups and stability ball work to specifically target the abdominal region and core. Yoga would be used to complement her workout using postures to elongate and define the muscles – postures such as ‘downward dog’ and ‘dolphin’. Her legs also look very streamlined in the ‘after’ shot which is probably due to a combination of plies (a very effective wide leg squat) and lunges.

There also seems to be a difference in the shape of her upper body, particularly her arms. Press-ups, ‘plank’ posture, and tricep-dips are all very effective exercises for building strength and definition in the arms.

This type of workout can give dramatic results in a short space of time and would explain why only two months previously she looked completely different. Denise Van Outen also lost over a stone in weight when she was starring in Chicago and claimed to have been in the best shape of her life.

Diet

Kelly is renowned for her love of fast food, in particular burgers and fries which contain a hefty 500 calories and 17g of fat between them. It is therefore not surprising that she has always complained of feeling tired and sluggish. This is due to the fact that she was largely eating refined carbohydrates which are harder for the body to break down and therefore leave you feeling bloated and tired while the digestive system deals with them.

I would suggest a protein based diet for Kelly which will help to increase her flagging energy levels without making her feel sluggish. Breakfast should be either porridge made with semi-skimmed milk or a large protein shake made of skimmed milk, a banana and some honey. Lunch would be a large chicken salad with a drizzling of balsamic vinegar and a piece of fruit. Dinner would be turkey stir-fry made with an assortment of chopped vegetables and some fine thread noodles or a piece of fish with steamed vegetables. Snacks can be added if or when energy levels start to wane; these should include fresh or dried fruit (apples, berries, or bananas), nuts and seeds, or smoothies.

Photograph

The ‘after’ photo makes Kelly’s transformation look very dramatic. However, her body shape is helped by her pose which is flatteringly slightly to the side, and the corset she is wearing which can definitely give the appearance of a much narrower waist.
